Volvo Penta D8-IPS800

Volvo Penta D8-IPS800 is a totally integrated system, powered by the in-line 6-cylinder D8, a 7.7-liter, common-rail diesel with a turbocharger. Working together with a perfectly matched IPS15 pod, twin counterrotating propellers and the EVC system, the system offers exceptional diesel performance combined with low emissions.

Maneuverability

Steerable pods – instead of fixed propellers and rudder – provide superior slow-speed maneuverability and greatly improved high-speed handling. Enhanced maneuverability leads to better driver response and increased safety.

Performance

The twin counter-rotating propellers face forward on the steerable pods and work in undisturbed water, pointing the entire thrust in the desired direction for superior performance that eliminates cavitation, reduces fuel consumption and extends range.

Comfort

Minimal levels of sound, vibration and exhaust fumes make life aboard that much more pleasant. A combined rubber suspension and seal absorb propulsion forces and vibrations. All exhaust fumes are emitted through the pods and into the prop wash for improved onboard comfort.

Electronic Vessel Control

Volvo Penta EVC, Electronic Vessel Control, fully integrates the engines, electronics and the unique set of EVC features, such as Joystick Docking, Dynamic Positioning System, Glass Cockpit and more.

Safety

The Volvo Penta IPS system is designed with key safety features in mind. Perfectly matched from helm to prop, Volvo Penta IPS includes flexible suspension for added safety. The onboard EVC system includes built-in redundancy to ensure there is always a backup system at hand.
